OUR PROJECT AND RESEARCH STUDIES

We prioritize our research and programs to vulnerable populations and populations in remote and mountainous areas. Recently, we have been working with and providing consultancy services to international and local NGOs including ADB, FANTA2, Pact, GFA (Gmbh-HEMA project), Abt associates, TSF, PSI, UNAIDS, SCUS, WPF, University of Texas, CIHP.

Following are selected research studies we have been conducted/are conducting:


On-going Projects and Research Studies

  • Quantitative Study: Condom use, VCT use, BTC TRaC Study among Male Injecting Drug Users in the 7 PEPFAR provinces. (for PSI Vietnam)
  • Post Construction HIV Prevention on the Phnom Penh – HCM City Highway, Southern Corridor, Funded by ADB:
    • Project Performance Management System (PPMS) – Design and Monitoring Framework (DMF)
    • Baseline survey in Vietnam and Cambodia (sample size: 2,500)
  • BCC strategy development for ADB Project on “Improving nutrition status among children in disadvantaged provinces via deworming and extension of Vitamin A supplement”
  • Qualitative assessment of Infant and young child feeding in the context of HIV in Vietnam - funded by USAIDS/AED (FANTA 2)
  • Series of training courses on reproductive and sexual health for people living with HIV for FHI out-patient clinic and home-based care staffs in 9 project provinces
  • Review of experience of PEPFAR and PACT partners in response to SRH of PLHIV: qualitative approach. Funded by USAID through PACT.
  • Developing IEC strategy for Community-based prevention and treatment of malnutrition for HEMA Project in 5 provinces of Vietnam: Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Kon Tum, and Gia Lai. Funded by EC via GFA Consulting Group GmbH.
  • Study: Understanding roles and perceptions of stakeholders towards family planning: implications for interventions to enhance equity and sustainability of public-sector family planning. Sub-contract with PATH.

Completed Projects and Research Studies

  • 2008 – 2009 Qualitative study entitled “Spousal Transmission of HIV in Vietnam”. Funded by UNAIDS Vietnam.
  • 2009. Developing M&E system for Community-based prevention and treatment of malnutrition for HEMA Project in 5 provinces of Vietnam: Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Kon Tum, and Gia Lai. Funded by EC via GFA Consulting Group GmbH.
  • 2007-2009 Evaluation of Building the Reproductive Health Capacity of the Commune Health Network Project in Khanh Hoa Province and Da Nang City in Vietnam. Funded by Global Development Network. This evaluation was applied semi-randomized control trial approach method and conducted in 76 communes of the 4 provinces. The evaluation was conducted in 3 rounds, with the sample size was 2,362 user/would be users, 400 health staff, 380 exit interviews and 350 mistery clients each round.
  • 2009. Final Evaluation of SRH project for hearing impaired students in Xa Dan School. Funded by WPF Vietnam.
  • 2007 – 2009. Series of training workshops on Integrated HIV Research and Prevention in Vietnam. In collaboration with the Center for International Training and Research (CITAR) at the University of Texas School of Public Health. Funded by National Institute of Health, USA.
  • 2009 Development of Training materials and Guidelines for Quality Monitoring in Community-based prevention and treatment of malnutrition for Health Care Support to the Poor of the Northern Uplands and Central Highlands (HEMA Project) at province, district, and commune levels in 5 provinces of Vietnam (EC funding)
  • 2009: Testing the IEC materials with Male Clients of Sex Workers in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh Cities. For PSI Vietnam
  • 2009: Final Evaluation of SRH project for hearing impaired students in Xa Dan School, For WPF Vietnam.
  • 2009: Survey on KAP of AV influenza case management in Can Tho and Hung Yen, For Abt Associates Vietnam
  • 2009: A peer-based formative research study to inform PSI Vietnam’s ‘Break the Cycle’ program with Male IDUs in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. In collaboration with CIHP, For PSI Vietnam
  • 2006-2008: Micronutrient supplement and nutrition status among women at reproductive age in Lai Chau and Kon Tum provinces. Funded by PEMC Program.
  • 2008: Testing of SafeWat and related IEC materials – a product sterilizing drink water in Ha Noi and Quang Ninh provinces, for PSI Vietnam.
  • 2008: Survey on sexual and drug use behaviors (using RDS) among sex workers in 6 provinces of Vietnam. In collaboration with CIHP, For PSI Vietnam
  • 2008: Qualitative study on sexual behaviors among male clients of sex workers in HCM and Hai Phong Cities (using male clients as community researchers/interviewers). In collaboration with CIHP, For PSI Vietnam
  • 2008: Qualitative study on sexual and drug use behaviors among Sex Workers who injected drugs in HCM and Hai Phong Cities (using sex workers as community researchers/interviewers). In collaboration with CIHP. For PSI Vietnam
  • 2008: Need Assessment: Female Sex Workers who use drugs in Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh Cities. In collaboration with CIHP. For PSI Vietnam
  • 2008: Study on Barriers to and Motivations for accessing PMTCT services. In collaboration with CIHP. For PSI Vietnam.
  • 2008: Qualitative research study on the determinants leading to drug use initiation. In collaboration with CIHP, For SC-US Vietnam.
  • 2007: Impact of HIV infection on the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS in Vietnam
